Tips

• Pry frames loose with a hive tool using steady, even pressure rather than sharp pops.
• Hold frames over the open hive so any dislodged bees fall back inside.
• If bees begin head-butting or buzzing loudly, pause for a few seconds before continuing.
• Inspect during warm, sunny, low-wind afternoons when foragers are out and the hive population is reduced.
• Limit inspection time to 10-15 minutes to reduce overall disturbance.
