Hive spacing

2

Increasing the spacing between hives in an apiary significantly reduces bee drift. When hives are placed too close together, bees can easily drift to adjacent colonies, especially in densely populated apiaries. Spacing hives further apart, ideally several feet or more, provides bees with more distinct flight paths and reduces the likelihood of entering the wrong hive. Increased spacing creates clearer territorial boundaries and visual separation between colonies, aiding in orientation and minimizing drifting. While requiring more apiary space, this method is highly effective in reducing drift-related issues.
