Observation hives

Using observation hives provides a unique opportunity to directly observe bee behavior within a colony setting. Observation hives are specially designed hives with transparent sides (typically glass or plexiglass) that allow beekeepers to view bee activities without opening and disturbing a standard hive. Direct observation enhances understanding of bee communication, foraging behavior, brood rearing, and overall colony organization. Observation hives are valuable educational tools, although they are not typically used for honey production due to their smaller size and design.
