Reduce hive entrances

Reducing hive entrances is a simple and effective method to prevent robbing. Smaller entrances make it easier for guard bees of the colony to defend against robber bees. Entrance reducers, which are physical barriers that narrow the hive entrance, are commonly used. Alternatively, a piece of wood or other material can be used to partially close off the entrance. Reducing entrances is particularly important during nectar dearth periods or when colonies are weak. This DIY approach is inexpensive and easy to implement.
