Bury wire mesh (apron) around the perimeter

Solution

Attach hardware cloth or welded wire fencing to the base of the coop/run walls, extending it outwards underground or laying flat on the surface, secured with landscape staples.

Explanation

This wire apron prevents digging predators like foxes, coyotes, and dogs from tunneling under the walls to gain access. Extend the wire at least 12 inches out from the base.

Notes

This is particularly important for chicken runs or rabbit tractors placed directly on the ground.
