Remove crayon marks with WD-40
3
Spray WD-40 onto a cloth and wipe crayon marks off painted walls. The petroleum-based solvents in WD-40 dissolve the wax binder in crayons, making the pigment easy to lift without heavy scrubbing.
Steps
- Spray a small amount of WD-40 onto a clean cloth -- never directly onto the wall.
- Rub the cloth gently over the crayon marks until they lift.
- Wipe the area thoroughly with a cloth dampened with warm soapy water to remove the oily residue.
- Dry with a clean cloth.
Tips
- Test on an inconspicuous spot first; WD-40 can darken flat or matte paint finishes
- Work in a ventilated area as WD-40 has strong fumes
- The soapy water step is essential -- leftover oil residue attracts dust and can stain
