Use Vinegar Solution and Squeegee/Microfiber

4

Description

A simple vinegar solution combined with the right tools and technique minimizes residue and prevents streaks.

Recipe/Instructions

  1. Mix Solution: Combine equal parts white vinegar and distilled water in a spray bottle. (Distilled water prevents mineral streaks from hard tap water). Add a tiny drop of dish soap for extra cleaning power if windows are very dirty, but too much soap causes streaks.
  2. Timing: Avoid cleaning in direct, hot sunlight, which dries the cleaner too quickly.
  3. Application: Spray the solution moderately onto the glass.
  4. Wipe/Squeegee:
    • Squeegee Method: Starting at the top, pull a rubber squeegee firmly and steadily down the glass. Overlap each stroke slightly. Wipe the squeegee blade clean with a lint-free cloth after each stroke. Finish by wiping the edges of the pane with the cloth.
    • Microfiber Method: Use a clean, high-quality microfiber cloth specifically designed for glass. Wipe in a consistent pattern (e.g., horizontal or vertical strokes). Use a second, dry microfiber cloth to buff the glass immediately afterward.
  5. Detail: Use a cotton swab or corner of the cloth to clean corners and edges.
