Use Baby Powder and Needles/Pins

5

Description

Applying powder reduces friction, while fine points allow precise manipulation of the knot.

Recipe/Instructions

  1. Lay the tangled necklace flat on a clean, well-lit surface.
  2. Unclasp the necklace if possible, as this can sometimes help.
  3. Sprinkle a small amount of baby powder, cornstarch, or talcum powder directly onto the knot(s). This lubricates the links.
  4. Take two fine needles, straight pins, or safety pins.
  5. Insert the tips of the pins into the center of the knot.
  6. Gently wiggle and pull the pins apart, working slowly to tease the knot loose. Focus on loosening the tightest parts first.
  7. Once the knot is loosened, use your fingers or the pins to carefully unravel the chain completely.
  8. Wipe the necklace clean with a soft cloth to remove powder residue.

What makes the Dish Special

N/A - The combination of lubrication and fine tools makes this the most common and effective method for delicate chains.
