Use Baby Powder and Needles/Pins
5
Description
Applying powder reduces friction, while fine points allow precise manipulation of the knot.
Recipe/Instructions
- Lay the tangled necklace flat on a clean, well-lit surface.
- Unclasp the necklace if possible, as this can sometimes help.
- Sprinkle a small amount of baby powder, cornstarch, or talcum powder directly onto the knot(s). This lubricates the links.
- Take two fine needles, straight pins, or safety pins.
- Insert the tips of the pins into the center of the knot.
- Gently wiggle and pull the pins apart, working slowly to tease the knot loose. Focus on loosening the tightest parts first.
- Once the knot is loosened, use your fingers or the pins to carefully unravel the chain completely.
- Wipe the necklace clean with a soft cloth to remove powder residue.
What makes the Dish Special
N/A - The combination of lubrication and fine tools makes this the most common and effective method for delicate chains.
