Practice daily foot hygiene and rotate shoes
5
Wash feet daily with soap and water, drying thoroughly between the toes where bacteria thrive. Apply foot powder or antiperspirant to control sweat, and never wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row -- give each pair at least 24 hours to air out.
Why It Works
Foot odor is caused by bacteria breaking down sweat. Thorough drying removes the moisture bacteria need, shoe rotation prevents moisture buildup inside footwear, and baking soda sprinkled in shoes overnight absorbs residual dampness and neutralizes odors.
Tips
- Wear moisture-wicking socks (wool or synthetic blends) instead of cotton, which traps moisture
- Change socks midday if your feet sweat heavily
- Sprinkle baking soda inside shoes overnight and tap out the excess before wearing
