Coat blades with a thin layer of oil after each use
4
After rinsing and drying the razor, apply a small drop of mineral oil, baby oil, or cooking oil to the blade surface. Spread it lightly with a fingertip or cotton swab to form a thin protective film. Rinse the oil off before the next shave.
Why It Works
Oil creates a barrier between the steel blade and ambient moisture, preventing the oxidation reaction that causes rust. Even in a dry bathroom, humidity can reach blades over hours of storage. A thin oil coating blocks this contact entirely.
Tips
- Mineral oil and baby oil are odorless and won't go rancid; cooking oils work but may develop a slight smell over time
- Only a tiny amount is needed -- excess oil attracts dust and lint
- Combine with proper drying for the best rust prevention
