Use white toothpaste for emergency pinhole concealment

2

Press a small amount of white, non-gel toothpaste into a tiny nail hole or pinhole and smooth flat with your finger or a damp cloth. It dries to a white, semi-hard fill that conceals the hole temporarily.

Why It Works

White toothpaste contains calcium carbonate and silica abrasives that harden as they dry. The white color approximates most wall paint closely enough to hide a pinhole from normal viewing distance. This is strictly a cosmetic, temporary fix—not a durable repair.

Tips

  • Use only white, non-gel toothpaste—gel formulas are translucent and will not conceal holes
  • Limited to pinholes and small nail holes under 1/8 inch; anything larger needs spackle
  • Not sandable or paintable to a professional standard
  • Best for rental move-out touch-ups or temporary concealment
  • Toothpaste may shrink or crack over time, especially in larger holes
