Install adjustable leveling feet
4
Screw or tap adjustable leveling feet into the bottom of each leg. Place the furniture on the floor and turn the threaded feet in or out until the piece sits level and stable. This compensates for both uneven legs and uneven floors without permanently modifying the furniture.
Why It Works
Leveling feet provide precise, independent height adjustment at each leg. They address wobble from uneven floors or slightly mismatched legs and can be readjusted anytime the furniture is moved.
Tips
- Screw-in types need a threaded insert drilled into each leg first
- Tap-in types with rubber bases work for lighter furniture and are easier to install
- A set of four typically costs $5-10 at any hardware store
- Rubber-based feet also prevent floor scratches and dampen noise on hard surfaces
