Trim the longer legs to level
3
Place the furniture on a known level surface and shim the short leg until the piece is stable. Measure the shim thickness — that's how much material to remove from the longer legs. Mark carefully and cut with a fine-toothed saw. Sand the cut ends smooth.
Why It Works
This is a permanent fix that addresses uneven legs directly by making them all the same length. Once trimmed correctly, the furniture sits perfectly on any flat surface.
Tips
- This requires woodworking skill — an incorrect cut will make the wobble worse
- Measure and mark three times before cutting — you can't add wood back
- Use a fine-toothed hand saw for the cleanest cut
- Only do this on flat surfaces — if the wobble is caused by an uneven floor, leveling feet are the better solution
