Scrub with a baking soda paste for stubborn stains

4

Mix 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda with just enough water to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to the stained areas of the glass and gently scrub with a soft cloth or sponge using circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry.

Why It Works

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a mild abrasive that physically removes mineral deposits without scratching glass. It also has slight alkalinity that helps break down residue. This makes it ideal for heavier stains that acidic soaks alone cannot fully clear.

Tips

  • Combine with vinegar for a two-step approach -- soak in vinegar first, then scrub remaining spots with the paste
  • Avoid using on decorative or hand-painted glassware where abrasion could damage the finish
  • A soft-bristled toothbrush works well for reaching crevices and textured glass patterns
