A drain snake, or auger, is a tool designed to physically remove drain clogs. It works by being inserted into the drain to reach and break apart or hook onto the blockage. Drain snakes are effective for more stubborn clogs located deeper within the pipes. They are a step up from plungers in terms of invasiveness and effectiveness, often capable of resolving clogs that plungers cannot handle.
