Solution

Discourage hens from going broody (sitting on eggs to hatch them) if egg production is the priority.

Explanation

A broody duck stops laying eggs. Regularly collecting eggs promptly can help prevent broodiness. If a duck becomes broody, removing her from the nest frequently or placing her in a 'broody breaker' (wire-bottom cage with food/water) for a few days can sometimes break the cycle.
