Create a Portfolio of Your Child's Work

Compile dated samples of your child's work across all subjects into a binder, folder system, or digital archive. Include assignments, writing samples, projects, art, book lists, and test results. A well-maintained portfolio provides tangible evidence of learning progress and is an accepted assessment method in most states that require periodic review.

Why It Works

Portfolios capture growth over time in a way that single tests cannot. Reviewing a semester's worth of writing samples, for example, shows improvement in grammar, structure, and reasoning far more clearly than any score. Portfolios also give children a sense of accomplishment when they see how far they have come.
