Use Shallow Waterers with Safety Measures

  1. Solution: Provide fresh water in a very shallow waterer, adding pebbles or marbles for the first few days.
  2. Explanation: Quail chicks are tiny and can easily drown, even in small amounts of water. Shallow waterers prevent this. Pebbles/marbles provide footing and prevent chicks from falling in and getting chilled or drowning.
  3. Notes: Clean waterers daily. Ensure water is not placed directly under the heat lamp where it can get too warm.
