Consider beekeeper experience

The choice between nucs and packages should also consider the beekeeper's experience level. Nucs are generally easier for beginner beekeepers to manage because they are already functioning colonies with a laying queen and established brood nest. Packages require more hands-on management in the initial stages as the bees need to draw comb and establish the colony from the ground up. Beginners may find nucs more forgiving and less prone to failure in the first year. Experienced beekeepers may be comfortable starting with packages and managing their initial development.
