Roll Clothes Tightly for Suitcases
Tight rolling compresses clothing into cylinders that fit efficiently into luggage, often outperforming flat folds for space savings while reducing certain types of wrinkles.
How It Works
Using a T-shirt as an example: lay the shirt face-down and smooth out wrinkles. Optionally fold the bottom hem up a few inches to create a pocket for securing the roll later. Fold one side toward the center, then fold the sleeve back over the folded section. Repeat on the other side to form a long rectangle. Starting from the neckline, roll the rectangle down tightly toward the bottom edge. If you created a hem pocket, tuck the roll into it. Apply the same approach to pants, dresses, and other garments.
Best For
Packing suitcases, carry-on bags, and travel organizers. Rolling works especially well for casual fabrics like cotton and knits. Delicate or structured garments such as dress shirts or blazers may still benefit from flat folding or garment bags.
