Deodorize with baking soda

Place an open box or bowl of baking soda on a middle shelf to neutralize fridge odors. Sodium bicarbonate chemically reacts with acidic odor molecules, eliminating smells rather than masking them.

Steps

1. Empty the fridge and discard any spoiled food.
2. Wipe all interior surfaces with 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda per quart of warm water.
3. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
4. Place an open box or small bowl of fresh baking soda on a middle shelf.
5. Replace the baking soda every 2-3 months for continued effectiveness.

Tips

• For strong odors, use two boxes — one on the top shelf and one in the bottom drawer.
• Seal food in airtight containers to prevent future odor buildup.
