Clean and Lubricate Hinge Pin

For persistent squeaks, close the door and use a nail or awl placed under the hinge pin head, gently tapping upwards with a hammer to loosen and remove the pin. Clean any rust or grime off the pin with steel wool or a rag. Apply lubricant (oil, petroleum jelly, or graphite powder) directly to the pin and inside the hinge knuckles. Reinsert the pin, tapping it back down if necessary. Wipe away excess lubricant.
