Rub away sticky residue with a pencil eraser

3

After peeling off a sticker, rub a standard rubber eraser over the remaining adhesive residue to ball it up and lift it off. This chemical-free method works well on hard, smooth surfaces like glass, metal, and hard plastic.

Why It Works

The friction and tackiness of rubber grabs the adhesive and rolls it into small balls that separate cleanly from the surface. A standard pink or white eraser produces enough grip without scratching most hard materials.

Tips

  • Use a clean eraser to avoid leaving pencil marks or smudges on the surface
  • Works best on thin residue layers; thick adhesive deposits may need oil or solvent first
  • Not suitable for textured or porous surfaces where the eraser cannot make full contact
