Use a hair dryer or flat iron (with caution)
2
A hair dryer or flat iron can substitute for a clothing iron in a pinch. The hair dryer is safe for most fabrics, while the flat iron requires extreme caution to avoid scorching.
Steps
- Hair dryer method: Hang the garment or lay it flat. Lightly mist wrinkled areas with water, then hold a hair dryer on medium heat a few inches away. Direct airflow over wrinkles while smoothing fabric with your other hand.
- Flat iron (small areas only): Ensure plates are clean. Set to the lowest heat setting. Quickly pass over collars, cuffs, or small wrinkled areas. Never leave the iron in one spot — fabric scorches in seconds.
Tips
- The hair dryer method is safe for virtually all fabrics
- Only use a flat iron on cotton or polyester — never on silk, rayon, or delicate materials
- Test on an inconspicuous area first when using the flat iron
