Apply shaving cream or soap film

4

A thin layer of shaving cream or soap leaves an invisible surfactant film on the mirror that prevents water droplets from beading up into fog. One application lasts several days to weeks.

Steps

  1. Apply shaving cream or soap to the clean, dry mirror surface. For bar soap, rub it onto a damp cloth first, then apply to the mirror.
  2. Spread evenly to cover the entire glass.
  3. Buff thoroughly with a clean, dry microfiber cloth until the mirror is clear and streak-free.

Tips

  • Shaving cream is easier to apply evenly than bar soap
  • Reapply when fogging starts to return, usually every 1-2 weeks
  • This is the same surfactant principle used in commercial anti-fog products
