Seal your mask across the nose bridge
4
Mold the nose wire of your mask firmly over the bridge of your nose and cheeks to create a tight seal that redirects exhaled air downward instead of up toward your lenses. This addresses the most common cause of glasses fogging while masked.
Steps
- Choose the right mask: Pick one with a flexible metal nose strip that can be shaped to your face.
- Shape the seal: Pinch the nose wire snugly over the bridge and press it along your cheekbones so no gaps remain at the top.
- Position your glasses: Rest them slightly forward on your nose, sitting on top of the mask fabric to help weigh down the edge.
- Tape if needed: For a complete seal, apply skin-safe medical tape across the top edge of the mask where it meets the bridge of your nose.
Tips
- KN95 and surgical masks with stiff nose wires seal better than loose cloth masks
- A folded tissue placed under the top edge of the mask also blocks upward airflow
- If taping, use hypoallergenic medical tape to avoid skin irritation
