Apply a soap or shaving cream film to lenses

4

Rub a tiny drop of clear dish soap or shaving cream across each lens, then gently buff clear with a soft microfiber cloth. The thin surfactant residue lowers surface tension, causing moisture to spread into a transparent sheet instead of forming foggy droplets.

Why It Works

Fog forms when warm, humid air hits a cooler lens surface and condenses into tiny water droplets that scatter light. A surfactant film prevents individual droplets from beading up, so any condensation spreads flat and stays transparent.

Tips

  • Use clear dish soap -- colored or scented varieties may leave a visible residue or smear
  • Reapply every 1-2 days, or sooner if you clean the lenses
  • Avoid rubbing too hard when buffing -- a light touch leaves the right amount of residue
