Improve bathroom ventilation to reduce steam
4
Reduce mirror fogging at the source by moving humid air out of the bathroom before it condenses. Turn on the exhaust fan before you start showering and leave it running for 15-20 minutes afterward.
Why It Works
Fog forms when warm, moisture-laden air contacts the cooler mirror surface. Removing that humid air through ventilation lowers the dew point in the room, giving moisture less opportunity to condense on the glass.
Tips
- If you have no exhaust fan, crack a window or leave the bathroom door ajar to create airflow.
- Clean exhaust fan covers periodically -- dust buildup can cut airflow significantly.
- Running the fan during and after every shower also helps prevent mold and mildew growth on walls and ceilings.
