Rinse, dry thoroughly, and store outside the shower
5
After each shave, rinse the blade under hot running water to flush out all hair, soap, and cream residue. Pat the razor head dry with a towel (avoid pressing directly on the blade edge) and store it upright in a dry spot outside the shower.
Why It Works
Moisture left on steel blades causes oxidation (rust), which roughens the cutting edge far faster than normal wear. Residue buildup between blades also traps moisture and accelerates corrosion. Removing both after every use is the single most effective way to extend blade life.
Tips
- A quick dip in rubbing alcohol after drying displaces remaining water and disinfects the blades
- A simple cup or razor stand on the bathroom counter keeps the blade away from shower humidity
- Avoid wiping the blades with a towel in the cutting direction -- this can dull or nick the edge
