Use Tire Sealant & Inflator (Temporary Fix)
2
Description
Emergency tire sealant and inflator products (like Fix-a-Flat) can temporarily seal small punctures and inflate the tire enough to drive slowly to a repair shop.
Recipe/Instructions
- If possible, locate the puncture object (e.g., nail) and remove it if safe to do so (sealant works best if object is removed, but sometimes leaving it helps plug hole - check product instructions). Position the wheel so the valve stem is accessible, ideally in the upper half.
- Shake the sealant can vigorously.
- Screw the can's nozzle onto the tire's valve stem.
- Dispense the entire contents of the can into the tire following product instructions (may involve holding a button or trigger).
- Immediately drive the vehicle slowly for a few miles (e.g., 5-10 mph for 2-3 miles) to distribute the sealant evenly inside the tire and help it seal the puncture.
- Check tire pressure and inflate to the recommended PSI if necessary.
- Important: This is a temporary repair. Drive cautiously at reduced speed directly to a tire repair shop. Inform the technician you used sealant, as it needs to be cleaned out before a permanent repair.
What makes the Dish Special
N/A - Offers a quick, less physically demanding alternative for small punctures, allowing you to avoid a full tire change roadside (but requires prompt professional follow-up). Not suitable for large holes or sidewall damage.
