Use AC + defrost together for rapid defogging

5

Turn on both the defrost setting and the AC simultaneously. The AC compressor dehumidifies the air while the defrost directs it onto the windshield, clearing fog in under a minute.

Steps

  1. Select the Defrost setting on your climate control panel.
  2. Turn ON the AC button, even if you also want heat. The AC compressor strips moisture from the air before it reaches the glass.
  3. Set the fan to high initially.
  4. Switch to Fresh Air intake (not recirculation) to bring in drier outside air.
  5. Optionally set temperature to warm, since warm air holds more moisture and accelerates clearing.

Tips

  • Most modern cars automatically engage the AC compressor when you select defrost, but verify yours does
  • Recirculation traps cabin moisture and slows defogging, so keep it off
  • Once the fog clears, reduce fan speed to maintain comfort
