Clean windows and apply anti-fog treatment

4

Clean the interior glass thoroughly, then apply a commercial anti-fog product. Dirty glass gives moisture droplets something to cling to, while anti-fog treatments create a hydrophilic surface that prevents fog from forming.

Steps

  1. Clean the inside of all windows with automotive glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth, removing dirt, oils, and film.
  2. Let the glass dry completely.
  3. Apply a commercial anti-fog spray (such as Rain-X Anti-Fog) evenly across the interior surface.
  4. Buff clear with a clean microfiber cloth per the product instructions.
  5. Reapply every 2-4 weeks or when fogging returns.

Tips

  • Shaving cream buffed onto glass and wiped clear acts as a budget anti-fog alternative
  • Avoid touching the interior glass with bare hands, as skin oils accelerate fogging
  • Smoking inside the car deposits a film that dramatically worsens fog buildup
