Use a chain cleaning device for hands-off scrubbing

A chain cleaning device clamps onto the chain and uses internal brushes with a degreaser bath to scrub every link as you backpedal. It provides a more thorough and less messy clean than manual rag-and-brush methods.

Steps

1. Fill the device reservoir with bicycle degreaser per its instructions.
2. Clamp the device onto the lower run of the chain.
3. Hold the device steady and crank the pedals backward for 20-30 full rotations.
4. Remove the device and dispose of the dirty degreaser responsibly.
5. Rinse the chain with water to remove remaining solvent.
6. Dry the chain with a clean rag and allow 30-60 minutes of air drying.
7. Apply one drop of chain lube per roller while backpedaling, then wipe excess from the outer plates.
