Utilize Fans Effectively & Evaporative Cooling

3

Description

Fans create a wind chill effect, while evaporation absorbs heat.

Recipe/Instructions

  1. Ceiling Fans: Set ceiling fans to rotate counterclockwise in summer. This pushes cool air downward, creating a cooling breeze on your skin (cools people, not the room itself).
  2. Portable Fans: Use portable fans (box, pedestal) to circulate air and create a breeze where needed.
  3. DIY Air Cooler: Place a shallow bowl or pan filled with ice or frozen water bottles directly in front of a portable fan. The fan blows air over the ice, creating a cooler, slightly misty breeze through evaporative cooling.
  4. Damp Cloths: Hanging damp cloths or sheets in front of open windows or fans can also provide some evaporative cooling as the water evaporates.
