Use mold-resistant paint and grout sealant.
Mold-resistant paint and grout sealant create a long-term barrier that prevents spores from taking hold on bathroom surfaces. These products contain built-in fungicides that remain active for years.
Mold-Resistant Paint
Apply to ceilings, walls, and any painted surface exposed to steam. Prep the surface by removing existing mold, cleaning thoroughly, and allowing it to dry completely before painting. Most formulations last 5-10 years under normal bathroom conditions.
Grout Sealant
Seal grout lines after installation or deep cleaning. The sealant fills the porous surface of grout, blocking moisture and organic matter from penetrating where spores feed. Reapply every 1-2 years or when water stops beading on grout lines.
When to Use
Best applied during bathroom renovation or after a thorough mold remediation. These are preventive measures, not treatments for active mold infestations.
