Baking soda is a well-known passive deodorizer that absorbs and neutralizes a broad range of volatile odor compounds without introducing any scent of its own. It requires no heating, making it a hands-off overnight approach.

Method

Place an open box or a bowl containing two to three tablespoons of baking soda inside the microwave. Close the door and leave it for at least eight hours or overnight. For stubborn smells, mix baking soda with a small amount of water to form a paste, spread it on interior surfaces, wait fifteen minutes, then wipe clean.

Effectiveness

Best suited for mild to moderate odors. It is non-toxic and safe around food surfaces, though it may need repeated applications for deeply baked-in smells.
