Wash in cold water and check before drying
4
After pre-treating any stain, wash the garment in cold water with regular detergent. Before putting the item in the dryer, inspect the stained area carefully. If any trace remains, repeat the pre-treatment and wash again.
Why It Works
Cold water is the safest default because it will not set remaining stain compounds. Machine dryer heat permanently bonds many stain types — especially protein and oil-based stains — to fabric fibers. Once heat-set, stains become nearly impossible to remove.
Tips
- Air dry stain-treated items until you confirm the stain is completely gone
- Wet fabric can hide stains — check again once the garment is dry
- If the stain persists after two treatments, try a different method suited to that stain type
