Damp-dust and damp-mop instead of dry dusting

4

What to Do

Use a slightly damp microfiber cloth for all dusting and a damp microfiber mop for hard floors. Never dry-dust during allergy season.

Why It Works

Dry dusting aerosolizes settled allergens back into breathable air, making symptoms worse. Damp dusting captures and removes particles instead of dispersing them. Microfiber cloths are superior to cotton due to their electrostatic charge and fine fiber structure.

Tips

  • Clean window sills and door frames near exterior openings first — they are primary pollen entry points
  • Wash microfiber cloths in hot water after each use
  • Dust weekly at minimum; twice weekly on high-pollen weeks
  • Work from top to bottom so dislodged particles fall onto surfaces you have not yet cleaned
