Apply gel bait in cracks and crevices

5

What to Do

Apply pea-sized dots of gel bait in cracks, crevices, and hidden areas where cockroaches hide — cabinet corners, behind toilets, under sinks, inside drawer tracks, behind refrigerators, and near plumbing penetrations. Space dots every 12-18 inches in heavily infested areas.

Why It Works

Gel baits are the primary control tool recommended by all major university extension services over sprays. Cockroaches eat the bait, return to their harborage, and die. Other roaches feed on the dead roach's body and feces, spreading the poison through the colony. Advion (indoxacarb) works against bait-averse German cockroaches. Vendetta Nitro (abamectin) and Maxforce FC Magnum (fipronil) are professional-grade alternatives.

Tips

  • Rotate brands every 30 days to prevent resistance and bait aversion
  • Replace bait when dried out or after 30 days
  • Never use foggers or baseboard sprays alongside baits — they scatter roaches and contaminate the bait
  • Pair with an IGR (Gentrol) for fastest results
