Rotate bait products to prevent resistance
4
What to Do
Switch gel bait brands and active ingredients every 30 days. If using Advion (indoxacarb), rotate to Vendetta Nitro (abamectin) or Maxforce (fipronil) the following month. Track which products you use and when.
Why It Works
German cockroaches have developed resistance to multiple insecticide classes and even bait aversion — some populations have evolved to reject glucose in bait formulations. Rotating active ingredients prevents resistance from building and addresses bait-averse strains. Advion uses an alternative bait matrix specifically designed for glucose-averse cockroaches.
Tips
- Boric acid has no documented resistance and can be used continuously alongside rotating baits
- If baits have not reduced the population within 30 days, switch immediately rather than waiting
- Using multiple methods simultaneously (baits + IGR + boric acid + sanitation) is the best resistance prevention strategy
- Keep records of products used so you know what to rotate to next
