Vacuum every other day for two weeks after treatment

4

What to Do

After indoor flea treatment, maintain an aggressive vacuuming schedule: every other day for two full weeks, then twice weekly for another two weeks. Focus on carpeted areas, pet resting spots, under furniture, and along baseboards.

Why It Works

Flea pupae in cocoons are completely immune to all insecticides and can remain dormant for months. Vibration from vacuuming triggers emergence, exposing new adults to the residual IGR and adulticide on carpet fibers. Without vacuuming, you'll keep seeing new fleas popping up for weeks.

Tips

  • Seeing a few fleas 1-2 weeks after treatment is normal — these are newly emerged adults from pre-existing cocoons, not a treatment failure
  • If you're still seeing fleas after 4 weeks of consistent vacuuming, retreat or check that all pets are on preventive
  • Empty the vacuum outside after each session to prevent re-infestation from hatching eggs in the canister
