Be specific about context, format, and audience
5
Include three elements in every prompt: what you need (the task), who it is for (the audience), and how you want it (the format). For example: "Write a 200-word product description for our new running shoe, targeting recreational runners, in a friendly conversational tone."
Why It Works
AI models generate better output when they have constraints to work within. Specificity eliminates guesswork and produces results you can actually use without heavy editing.
Tips
- Mention word count or length when it matters
- Specify tone: formal, casual, technical, persuasive
- Name the audience explicitly — "for a 10-year-old" produces very different output than "for a PhD researcher"
