Make hard-boiled eggs in an Instant Pot or pressure cooker
4
Place eggs on the trivet in an Instant Pot with 1 cup of water. Pressure cook on high for 3 minutes for soft, 5 minutes for medium, 5 minutes plus 5-minute natural release for hard. Quick-release remaining pressure and transfer to ice bath.
Why It Works
Pressure cooking produces the easiest-to-peel eggs of any method. The pressurized steam forces its way between the shell and membrane. This method is ideal for making large batches of eggs for meal prep.
Tips
- The 5-5-5 method (5 min pressure, 5 min natural release, 5 min ice bath) is the classic Instant Pot formula for perfect hard-boiled eggs
- Can cook a dozen or more eggs at once with consistent results
- Slightly longer total time than stovetop because of pressurization, but hands-off
- Works in any brand of electric pressure cooker, not just Instant Pot
