Scraping hive parts

Scraping propolis directly from hive components is a traditional, low-tech method of collection. During routine hive inspections, beekeepers can use a hive tool or scraper to remove propolis from hive boxes, frames, inner covers, and other surfaces where bees have deposited it. This method is labor-intensive and yields smaller quantities compared to traps, as propolis is collected opportunistically rather than systematically. However, it requires minimal investment in specialized equipment, making it accessible to all beekeepers. The collected propolis may require further cleaning to remove beeswax and hive debris.
