Rub fixtures with fresh lemon juice

4

Cut a lemon in half and rub it directly onto limescale-stained fixtures. For tougher spots or vertical surfaces, squeeze the juice onto a cloth and press it against the area. Let it sit for 10–30 minutes, scrub gently, and rinse with water. Heavy buildup may need a second application.

Why It Works

Citric acid in lemon juice dissolves calcium carbonate deposits effectively. It is milder than vinegar, making it a good choice for lighter buildup and for people who prefer a natural, pleasant scent.

Tips

  • Avoid natural stone surfaces (marble, granite) — citric acid etches and dulls the finish
  • Bottled lemon juice works but fresh lemons are more effective due to higher citric acid concentration
  • Leaves a fresh scent, making it ideal for bathroom fixtures
