Harden and Scrape (All Surfaces) then Iron (Fabric/Carpet)
4
Description
This common method involves hardening the wax for easy removal of bulk, then using heat absorption for porous surfaces.
Recipe/Instructions
- Harden Wax: Let the wax cool and harden completely. Speed this up by placing ice cubes in a plastic bag over the wax spill.
- Scrape: Gently scrape away as much of the hardened wax as possible using a dull knife, credit card, or spoon edge. Be careful not to damage the underlying surface.
- Heat Absorption (Fabric/Carpet): Place several layers of paper towels or a brown paper bag over the remaining wax stain. Set an iron to a low heat setting (no steam). Gently press the warm iron over the paper. The heat melts the wax, which is then absorbed (wicked up) into the paper. Replace the paper frequently as it becomes saturated, continuing until no more wax is absorbed.
- Clean Residue: For any remaining oily stain, treat with a pre-wash stain remover (fabric) or a suitable cleaner for the surface type.
