Ensure proper mask fit to redirect airflow
4
Mask-induced fogging happens when warm, moist breath escapes upward from the top of the mask and hits cooler lenses. Sealing the top edge of the mask redirects airflow downward and eliminates the problem.
Steps
- Mold the nose strip firmly over the bridge of your nose and cheeks to create a complete seal.
- Position glasses slightly lower on your nose so they rest over the top edge of the mask material.
- Use medical tape along the top edge of the mask for a complete seal if the nose strip alone isn't enough (use skin-safe tape).
Tips
- Masks with wide, adjustable nose strips seal better than thin-wire masks
- A folded tissue placed under the top edge of the mask can also block upward airflow
