Apply soap or shaving cream film to lenses

4

A thin, invisible surfactant layer on lenses prevents water droplets from beading up into fog. Common household items like dish soap and shaving cream work just as well as commercial products.

Steps

  1. Soap method: Apply a tiny drop of clear dish soap to each lens, rub across the entire surface, then gently buff clear with a dry microfiber cloth.
  2. Shaving cream method: Apply a thin layer of shaving cream to lenses, then buff completely clear with a soft cloth.

Tips

  • Reapply every few days as the surfactant layer wears off
  • Avoid soaps with lotion additives — they leave streaks
  • This is the same principle behind commercial anti-fog products, just cheaper
