Apply soap or shaving cream film to lenses
4
A thin, invisible surfactant layer on lenses prevents water droplets from beading up into fog. Common household items like dish soap and shaving cream work just as well as commercial products.
Steps
- Soap method: Apply a tiny drop of clear dish soap to each lens, rub across the entire surface, then gently buff clear with a dry microfiber cloth.
- Shaving cream method: Apply a thin layer of shaving cream to lenses, then buff completely clear with a soft cloth.
Tips
- Reapply every few days as the surfactant layer wears off
- Avoid soaps with lotion additives — they leave streaks
- This is the same principle behind commercial anti-fog products, just cheaper
