Seal the top edge of your mask to redirect airflow

4

Mask-induced fogging happens when warm, moist breath escapes upward through the gap between the mask and your nose, hitting the cooler lens surface. Sealing that top edge redirects exhaled air downward and eliminates the problem entirely.

Steps

  1. Mold the nose wire firmly over the bridge of your nose and cheeks to close the gap.
  2. Position your glasses so they rest slightly over the top edge of the mask fabric, pinning it down.
  3. Apply skin-safe medical tape along the top edge if the wire alone does not create a full seal.

Tips

  • Masks with wide, adjustable metal nose strips seal far better than thin single-wire masks
  • A folded tissue placed under the top edge of the mask can block upward airflow as a quick fix
