Use Isopropyl Alcohol Spray for Windshield & Lock De-Icer

4

Description

Alcohol has a much lower freezing point than water, so it quickly melts ice upon contact.

Recipe/Instructions

Windshield: 1. Mix a solution of two parts isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol, 70% or higher concentration preferred) and one part lukewarm water in a spray bottle. 2. Spray the solution generously over the icy windshield and windows. 3. The ice should begin to melt and loosen almost immediately. 4. Use an ice scraper or windshield wipers (once loose) to clear the slush away. Frozen Lock: 5. Purchase a commercial lock de-icer spray containing alcohol. 6. Spray the de-icer directly into the keyhole. 7. Alternatively, apply alcohol-based hand sanitizer to your key and gently insert and wiggle it in the lock. 8. Wait a few moments for the ice inside the lock mechanism to melt. Prevention: 9. Cover windshield with a tarp, cardboard, or dedicated cover overnight. 10. Spray door/lock seals occasionally with silicone lubricant to prevent water ingress and freezing.
