Spray rubbing alcohol solution to melt ice fast

Mix two parts isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher) with one part lukewarm water in a spray bottle and spray generously over icy glass. Ice melts almost immediately on contact because alcohol's freezing point is far below water's.

Steps

1. Spray the alcohol solution across the full windshield and windows.
2. Wait 15-30 seconds for the ice to loosen and turn to slush.
3. Clear the remaining slush with an ice scraper or windshield wipers.
4. For a frozen lock, apply alcohol-based hand sanitizer to your key and gently insert and wiggle it until the internal ice melts.

Tips

• Do not use hot water on frozen glass -- the thermal shock can crack the windshield.
• Cover the windshield overnight with a tarp or dedicated cover to prevent ice buildup in the first place.
• Store the spray bottle indoors so the solution itself does not freeze.
